The Ronald McDonald House Home School

Home SchoolThe Ronald McDonald House Home School is a licensed alternative Minneapolis Public School that is designed to allow families to stay together during extended periods of hospitalization. Personalized education in coordination with each child’s home school is provided for the patients and siblings in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Classes run on a normal school year schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Students may be enrolled at any time during the school year for a minimum of five school days.
  • Contact will be made with each student’s home school to plan a continuance of the student’s academic program.
  • Academic credit will be provided through each student’s home district.
  • Attendance is recorded daily and is reported to the student’s home school and the Minneapolis School District.
  • Small class size, individual instruction and specialists in music, art and physical education will ensure the best possible program for each student.
  • A cross-age educational program will provide opportunities for growth for each student.
  • Classmates in similar situations help to ensure a warm, understanding class environment.
